The Rally to Restore Sanity/Fear, put on by Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert, was attended by approximately 215,000 people. It’s uplifting to see that approximately 128,000 more Americans want to restore civil discourse than want to elevate Glenn Beck. However, some people will never be satisfied with peace and harmony. Apparently neither Mr. Stewart nor Mr. Colbert respects the American flag any more than Barack Obama does. The U.S. Flag Code, section 4-(d) states: “The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery….” I see this as a standard failure of Democrats and the present administration, just as they seem to not respect the Constitution of the United States. Thankfully, control of Congress will soon be back in the hands of those who do care, and the long, hard process of restoring this country back to greatness will begin. How the uber-liberal idea of “progress” can be so debilitating to our country makes me doubt the motive and sanity of our leaders.
Turning a conversation about how great America is into doubting our “debilitating” leaders, smearing their motives and sanity, shows that you were never at the table for the conversation. You just came for the pumpkin pie (if it was good enough for the Puritans, it’s good enough for me). And you definitely walked away when it was time to clean up.
America has a great future…with or without following the flag codes.
