According to the right-wing group trying to keep healthcare in its place (with the ruling class), Personal Responsibility is one of the "Pillars" of responsible health care.
Placing responsibility squarely where it belongs, on the shoulders of the patient, will encourage individuals make to make healthy lifestyle choices. Infusing personal responsibility into health care reform allows us all to maintain our cherished freedom to live our lives without government intrusion.
You’ll never find a conservative using this argument when it comes to women’s health, though. For a right-wing radical, healthy choices never include reproduction. The government is begged to intrude on women’s medical decisions. Birth control? The morning after pill? Abortion? Conservatives will carry that intrusion banner all the way to the Supreme Court.
Women’s rights? Only on the left.
