Abortion is legal. Conservative groups are screaming "euthanasia"–claiming that 85-year-olds are going to be denied heart transplants to save money. This has them up in arms. The claim that health care is best decided between a person and their doctor, without the government weighing in, is laughable. Health care they agree with is best decided by a patient and physician. Health care they find morally wrong, despite its legality, is best decided–i.e., denied–by the government.
We cannot support any health care reform proposal unless it explicitly excludes abortion from the scope of any government-defined or subsidized health insurance plan," a group of 20 Democratic representatives said in a June 25 letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.
