A good start to running for chairman of the Republican National Committee? According to Chip Saltsman, it’s the little things that count: like sending out a Christmas CD which includes the song, “Barack, the Magic Negro“. President-elect? Leader of the free world? Commander in Chief? A little thing called respect? All highly overrated, evidently.
This is how Saltsman defends the songs on his Christmas CD.
“I think most people recognize political satire when they see it,” Tennessee Republican Chip Saltsman told CNN. “I think RNC members understand that.”
I guess the Repubs are a different sort of bunch, because there is no way a Democrat would get away with such overt racism. It isn’t a comedy show: no Jon Stewart, no Bill Maher. This is a man running for a powerful position in the Republican party.
The song was first played on Rush Limbaugh’s radio show. I guess that makes it alright.
