Stevens Says He Hasn’t Been Convicted

The incumbent Alaskan Senator, Ted Stevens, says he hasn’t been convicted yet. According to Stevens, he won’t have a “black mark beside [his] name” until–unless–he loses his appeal.
According to Stevens, being tough on crime means innocent until all appeals have been exhausted. This statement is at odds with the longest-serving Republican Senator’s hard-core conservative, tough on crime platform. I wonder if these seven convictions qualify him for the Three Strikes Law he strongly supports?
